The Overall Jist of Things:
My name is Gary Philpott, and Whittiger's Tale is the outcome of a Final Major Project at Southampton Solent University, that has taken the better part of 12 weeks to complete.(Start Date: January 21st, Deadline: May 15th) Everything from the initial idea, to concepts, mock ups/blockouts, modelling, unwrapping, texturing, rigging, animating, lighting and rendering were all done by me, predominantly using 3ds Max and Photoshop, and a little bit of Silo3D and Headus UVLayout (Where trial restrictions applied). While the focus of the project was to create game art assets, ie... art that could be applied to games, I took this opportunity to try and make a game, or to include at-least some form of interactivity. This was probably my biggest flaw, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I regret it. The engine of choice is a custom version of the Blitz3D engine, dubbed "Odis" by one Adam Barton (course leader).

As Whittiger's Tale was intended to be a (3D) point and click adventure, it was essential to have a point and click interface, if only to walk around with. I should emphasise the fact that the goal was not to make a working game, but rather just the art assets for one. (and a rather small one, I should add). I did none of the raw coding work myself, the engine was modified by Adam Barton, all I had to do was open a text editor and start adding pre-defined commands.

This html document serves as the final piece of my Final Major, showcasing the finished results, and the over all development of the work that has taken place these past 12 weeks.
